| Background |
| Woollongong RSL Bowling club curators have been fighting a perennial problem of bad nematodes on their 3rd green, problems of soil compaction resulting in pythium. |
| requiring This has required annual treatment with costly fungicides and a general lack of turf vitality throughout the colder winter period. |
| What we recommended |
| Other fertiliser applications had not resulted in any reduction in problems with soil compaction or fungal diseases being experienced. |
| It was recommended that a change the strategy may demonstrate improved results. |
| Results achieved |
| All grass and turf species seem to have responded well to the use of Profert, with better vigour and greener grasses at times when in the past they would have been much drier and virtually dormant. The grasses now appear to be able to continue growing substantially throughout cold spells. |
| A real added bonus has been the observation that damaging Galahs no longer land and dig 1 to 2 inch holes in the greens. They now take off without doing any real damage. Many other green keepers have now been told about this bonus. |
| Profert has proven to be safe to all turf grass species they have applied it to. A change to Profert has seen a remarkable change of soil health, resulting in increased plant vigour. |
| Fertiliser costs have been reduced by 50 to 75%! |
