| Beef and Dairy | | | Des Bunter of Gympie uses Profert on his beef and dairy pastures. | | | | | Outcome | | | Achieves improved crop &pasture fertilisation and gets the added benefit of tick control. | | | |
| Background | | | Des needed good pasture health and was told about Profert. After using this he discovered he not only got good results from the fertiliser with respect to pasture response to Profert, but he got the additional side benefit of a large reduction in ticks on the pasture. He now sprays when he first sees the ticks. After two sprays they are gone. | | | | What we recommended | | | Des milks 180 Jersey cows on 25 hectares of irrigated river flat country. To achieve consistently high milk yields, Des needed something that would increase his production. | | | | Results achieved | | | His results with Profert have been very satisfactory, with increased foliar growth resulting in higher yields, in fact his farm is now third highest in the district. | | | Other side benefits of using Profert are an increase in general health of the herd, with less calving problems and less scours in the calves. His vet bills are now significantly reduced. Other side effects noted were less armyworm in the pasture, reduced kikuyu yellow fungal disease, less buffalo flies. Des has also noticed that the cows appear to eat the pasture down better, with a reduced need | | |
