Research Activities

The Grow Green Pty Ltd philosophy in relation to plant health and nutrition views plants as part of a whole system and considers that provision of nutrient elements alone may result in an imbalance in the soil or plants which can effect their health and productivity. Grow Green therefore seeks to provide products which address all aspects of healthy plant growth (including plant nutrition and soil health) and is committed to innovation and product development in all of its products and their uses.

To this end Grow Green has a strong emphasis on research, both in relation to its existing products and in the development of new products.

Grow Green interacts with farmers and private and government agricultural and soil scientists in order to assist farmers to provide the market with top quality commodities in a fully sustainable manner. Areas in which projects have been undertaken with various Grow Green products and which are continuing on the basis of promising results to date are:

• Improvement of taste in strawberries, pineapples, cherries and beans
• Improvement in shelf life of strawberries, beans and pineapples
• Improvement in the evenness of bean crop maturity
• Improvement in soil structure and water holding capacity
• Reduction in time to harvest for beans, grapes and apples
• Increase in sugar levels in fruit and sugar cane
• Improved control of ticks and buffalo fly in cattle
• Disease control in bananas
• Control of soil pests and diseases in ginger and pineapples - including nematodes, lawn grubs and root rot.
• Control of insect pests of cotton - including Helicoverpa spp, jassids and aphids

Although various aspects of this trial work are still confidential, it may be possible to obtain copies of preliminary trial reports and screening studies by negotiation with Grow Green technical staff.
